POST-MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION HEART FAILURE

  • In this presentation, Dr. Pramod Kumar Kuchulakanti, a senior Interventional Cardiologist in Yashoda Hospital, at Hyderabad, talks about Post Myocardial Infarction (MI) Heart Failure and various medical therapies available for its management.
  • Heart failure related to MI can happen in one of three situations: during the time of the MI, while the patient is in the hospital, or after discharge. An increase of three to four times in overall and cardiovascular mortality is seen as a result of heart failure brought on by MI. Heart failure that develops 72 hours or more after hospitalization is found to be more dangerous than heart failure that develops right after. As further explained in detail in the discussion, this provides vital information with therapeutic implications.
