One of the most common adverse events following solid organ transplantation, and historically have occurred in up to 70% of all kidney transplant recipients are infections. Development of a post-KT infection was associated with a significantly higher risk of DCGF, independent of its effect of mortality. Even in the modern era of immunosuppression, incidence of post-KT infection remains high. Enhanced surveillance or followup might benefit to mitigate these high-risk infections in kidney transplant recipients.
