About Dr Janaka Karalliedde

Dr Janaka Karalliedde FRCP PhD is a clinical senior lecturer at King's College London, UK, and a consultant physician at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, UK. Dr Karalliedde graduated with a distinction in medicine from the University of London and was awarded a PhD by the University of London for his research in cardiovascular disease in diabetes.

He has published widely in the subject of diabetic nephropathy and cardiovascular disease and has been awarded research grants from the UK Medical Research Council Diabetes UK, European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes, National Institute for Health Research, Industry and the International Diabetes Federation.

He has been invited to give lectures at the American Diabetes Association and International Diabetes Federation scientific meetings and in several countries worldwide. He speaks frequently at national and international meetings and is an active clinician and teacher with major research interests in the study of kidney disease and cardiovascular complications in diabetes. 

Dr Karalliedde has expertise in managing patients with renal and cardio-vascular complications related to diabetes. He runs specialist clinics for patients with diabetic renal and vascular complications at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital and community based diabetes renal complication community diabetes clinics in South London.
