About Professor Michael Feher

Professor Michael Feher is a Consultant Physician in Diabetes & Clinical Pharmacology and Clinical Lead for lipid, diabetes and hypertension services at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He developed and leads unique specialist lipid and diabetes services including lipid clinics in adults and family lipids (joint with paediatrics), new diabetes therapies, liaison-psychiatry-diabetes, and diabetic hypertension.

His academic appointments include Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Epidemiology & Population Health, Albert Einstein Medical School (New York) and Honorary Reader, Clinical Sciences Research Institute, Warwick Medical School (UK). He is independent diabetes assessor to London Metropolitan/Home County Police and diabetes adviser to the British National Formulary. National committees include European Medicine Agency EASD diabetes representative and DVLA advisory panel for diabetes.

Over the past 25 years, Dr Feher has had extensive clinical experience in the fields of diabetes, lipids and hypertension. He has made considerable advances in combining clinical pharmacology, pharmaco-epidemiology and laboratory-based research with diabetes clinical care and teaching. He was cofounder of the Diabetes Therapies Evaluation Network (DTEN) which is a research group established to specifically evaluate phase IV and early introduction into clinical practice of new therapies specific to diabetes. He is on the Editorial Board of the British Journal of Diabetes and Vascular Disease and has been published extensively in the fields of diabetes, lipids and lipid disorders, hypertension, cardiovascular risk factors and clinical pharmacology, including 8 books in diabetes and cardiovascular medicine.
