Restoring Life Through Early Treatment: George’s Pompe Disease Journey

In this video, George Jacob Thomas, a 23-year-old living with Pompe disease, shares his journey of struggle and recovery. Diagnosed with Pompe disease at the age of 7, George faced challenges like muscle weakness, difficulty breathing, and trouble performing everyday tasks. After years of misdiagnosis and visiting multiple doctors, George's condition was finally confirmed in 2007. In 2009, after suffering a respiratory failure, George began receiving Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) through the Sanofi Genzyme India Charitable Access Program. Since then, the therapy has significantly improved his health, normalizing his breathing and preventing further deterioration. George now leads a normal life, emphasizing that early diagnosis and timely treatment are crucial for patients with rare diseases, giving them hope and a chance to live a full life.
