Neonatal seizures—diagnostic options and treatment recommendations

According to Recent Diagnostic Treatment Recommendations, it is observed that 1-4 per 1000 neonates during the first week of their life have reported seizures incidences. The moot point is to understand the diagnostic and treatment options available for neonatal seizures. However, there is detail explanation given through diagnostic parameters for neonates with clinical events or high risk for seizures. As per, ASM choice should be guided by the potential adverse effect. Although diagnosing and treating neonatal seizures remains challenging but the development of novel, disease modifying, or anti- epileptogenic therapies and new Neuro- protective agents may ultimately improve neonatal seizures outcome.
