Thromboprophylaxis in medically ill patients
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a significant public health issue affecting thousands of patients globally. Worldwide 10 million cases of VTE occur annually and it is accountable for a high number of hospitalizations. More than 50% of VTE cases and 75% of fatal VTE events occur during hospitalization. In this scenario, risk assessment becomes critical during each stage of hospitalization. Appropriate prophylaxis reduces VTE risk in medically patient.
