Type 2-inflammation er til stede hos næsten 90 % af alle patienter med svær astma.¹

Det er en heterogen sygdom drevet af cytokiner såsom interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5 og IL-13.² I klinisk praksis kan type 2-inflammation påvises af de veletablerede biomarkører fraktioneret udåndet nitrogenoxid (FeNO), eosinofile celletal (EOS) og immunglobulin E (IgE). Desværre er der ingen enkelt inflammatorisk biomarkør, som opfanger hele spektret af type 2-inflammation ved astma.³

Kun ved at teste dem alle kan man få det fulde billede af patientens behov og sikre korrekt behandling.^3-6
