24-25th of May 2023, experts across the Nordics got together in 3 diffrent scientific meetings in 3 diffrent cities and discussed treatment of severe atopic dermatitis in children from 6 month of age.
Dr Peter Arkwright from the UK joined us for 3 scientific meetings where he shared his experiences, research and views on advancements in infant AD.

Speakers
Peter Arkwright is a Senior Lecturer/Consultant in Paediatric Allergy & Immunology at the University of Manchester and Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in the United Kingdom.
He is clinical academic paediatrician and has worked in the fields of allergy and immune deficiency for the last 20 years. He runs a dedicated outpatient clinic for children with severe / refractory atopic dermatitis and leads a successful research program in basic and translational aspects of atopic dermatitis research.
Peter is a contributing author on over 200 scientific publications and has acted as principal investigator in multiple clinical trials.
Mette Deleuran is Associate Professor and Chair at the Department of Dermatology & Venereology, Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark.
She specializes in dermatology with a focus on atopic dermatitis and inflammatory skin diseases.
Her research includes basic science, epidemiology, and clinical studies.
She is Chairperson for the European Task Force on Atopic Dermatitis (ETFAD), a founding member of the International Society of Atopic Dermatitis, and a former board member of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, as well as a board member of several other scientific societies, organizations, and advisory panels, including the worldwide OPENED Dermatology program, which is a patient education network for patients suffering from atopic dermatitis.
Kristina Sophie Ibler (MD PhD) is Associate Professor and editor-in-chief. She is responsible for the clinic of atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis in Department of Dermatology, Zealand University Hospital, Roskilde. She is experienced in patient education regarding atopic dermatitis (Asthma Allergy Denmark) and education of health and safety personnel in prevention of contact dermatitis (Zealand University Hospital)
Author and coauthor of 52 peer reviewed scientific papers and two book chapters, acts as supervisor for PhD students and is coauthor of the national clinical guidelines in atopic eczema and contact dermatitis.
Varpu Elenius (MD, PhD) is a paediatric pulmonoligst and allergologist at the Department of Pediatrics, Turku University Hospital, Turku, Finland
Varpu has several years of experience in paediatric allergology, having been a specialist in the field for over 10 years. Over this time, she has contributed to over 40 peer reviewed publications and conducted 2 clinical trials as the Principal Investigator. Varpu was also a member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) Task Force focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of acute wheezing, as well as the Chairman of the Board of Finnish Allergology and Immunology Foundation since 2018.
Johanna Mandelin (MD, PhD) received her Specialist Degree in Dermatology and Allergology in 2018. In 2010 she defended her thesis “Tacrolimus ointment for long-term treatment of atopic dermatitis”. Throughout her career she has had a special interest in treating atopic dermatitis in children and adults with both topical and systemic medication.
She has since 2018 worked as a dermatologist and allergologist at the Skin and Allergy Department at University Central Hospital in Helsinki.
Hampus Kiotseridis (MD, PhD) is a paediatrician with subspecialisation in allergology. He has experience from the Paediatric Clinic at Skåne University Hospital, where he managed the allergy care program and worked to develop and provide education on allergies to the wider region through the Allergy Competence Center. He simultaneously completed his doctoral studies in allergy research at Lund University, working to develop assessment tools for evaluating disease activity based on patient-reported outcomes.
Hampus is one of the founders of Barnläkargruppen Syd’s paediatric clinic in Lund (opened in 2014), which has over time expanded to include a child healthcare centre and midwifery clinic inaugurated in 2017, and a clinic in the city of Malmö in 2019. He currently holds the role as head of R&D as well as head of business development within Barnläkargruppen Sparta, has been a board member of the National Paediatric Allergy Association and acted as a principal investigator in clinical trials.
Georgios Xirotagaros (MD) works as a senior physician at the dermatology department at the University Hospital in Linköping. He has special interest in paediatric dermatology.
He obtained his specialist degree at the Athens University Hospital in 2014 and has received special training in paediatric dermatology at the Dermatology Department at Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús in Madrid in 2015. He treated children with various dermatoses and syndromes and wrote and published articles with focus on autoinflammatory diseases.
He started working as a specialist in Linköping University Hospital in 2016 and became a senior doctor in 2020. During that time, he started the children's dermatology department which he still runs. He is also responsible for the AD reception for children and works once a week at Allergy Center where he treats and manages children with atopic diseases.
Emma Goksör (MD, PhD) is a paediatric allergologist at Queen Silvia Children´s Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden, where she is head of the Department of Paediatric Immunology/Rheumatology as well as the Department of Paediatric Allergy/Lung/Cystic Fibrosis. She conducted her doctoral studies on the epidemiology of childhood wheeze, including identification of risk factors and determining long-term outcomes of severe affliction in early life, and is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Paediatrics at Sahlgrenska Akademin, Gothenburg University. She is chairman of the Allergy & Respiratory Medicine section of the Swedish Association for Paediatrics and a member of the guideline committee for Paediatric Allergy & Asthma.
Mahsa Tayefi (MD) is a dermatologist at the Division of Dermatology and Venereology, Department of Medicine Solna, at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. Parallel to her clinical work, she is currently conducting her doctoral studies, for which she in 2022 received a scholarship from the Swedish Association for Asthma & Allergy, on the use of novel systemic treatments for atopic dermatitis in adults and children, as well as how the presence of filaggrin mutations may affect treatment outcome. Her work is also closely connected to the Swedish national quality registry for atopic dermatitis, SwedAD.
